Santa Barbara Wedding Invitation

Sketches

We began the process by brainstorming a few alternate options for the invitation card and wrap exterior. The designs incorporated old world Santa Barbara inspired elements like wrought iron and Spanish tiles from the local architecture. We also explored ways of weaving animals from the Santa Barbara Zoo into the design in a subtle way.

Monograms

The couple were keen on the idea of a custom crest incorporating their two cherished cats. Other elements we borrowed from were Hebrew letters and musical notation; the rehearsal dinner was at the Music Academy of the West, a famed music conservatory. Last but not least, the crest was framed with a shape derived from local inspired Spanish tiles.

Color Study

Once the couple had chosen a cover design, we experimented with a few different color combinations and options all within the palette of jewel tones.

Illustration

We hand illustrated elements such as a map of Santa Barbara with locations that were meaningful to the couple. The color scheme and elements were picked up from the invitation and crest design for a seamless look.

Details, details, details….

Every element and detail in the suite is carefully considered. We brought our illustrations onto the computer and refined them even further to ensure a perfect print process.

Final Design

At the end of the creative process, after all edits and refinements are made, the full suite comes to life in the hands of our expert team of printers and craftsmen.
