Modern Nautical Wedding Invitation

With a contemporary nautical concept and venue, we created an unexpected wedding invitation suite which merged the idea of the nautical tradition of navigating the stars with the romance of 'a love written in the stars'. The invitation features hand-illustrated navigational maps printed on turquoise and luxury epi-leather embossed papers in a palette of ivory and turquoise.

The Inspiration

Sketches

We started the process by brainstorming some different cover and interior options for the invitation folder. The theme of the suite was a modern take on nautical design so we incorporated elements like compasses, nautical navigation and maps to tell this couple’s design story.

Monograms

No design is ever complete without a unique monogram which is the centerpiece of the invitation suite. We explored a variety of monograms ranging from classic to more contemporary styles.

Design Options

We created a few different options for the folder cover. We picked a beautiful material with embossed waves as a nod to the nautical and ocean inspiration.

Map

We created a custom illustration of Manhattan with nautical navigation elements woven throughout. The map was printed on the interior of the folder in shades of teal.

Design Extension

Once the look and feel of the suite were established, we extended the design to all other pieces in the suite from envelopes and reply cards to enclosure cards and custom postage stamps.

Details, details, details…

Before going to print we make sure that all design elements and graphics are perfected to ensure a smooth and successful print run. Even the envelope liners in this suite were adorned with our custom designed map.

Final Design

At the end of the creative process, after all edits and refinements are made, the full suite comes to life in the hands of our expert team of printers and craftsmen.
