Brooklyn Botanic Garden Invitation

With the couples' wedding taking place at the lovely Palmhouse at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, we decided to incorporate their location on the save the date and invitation in a classic engraved illustration style. The save the date is foil stamped with gold on luxury aubergine paper while the invitation is letterpress printed on cream paper, accented by purple edge painting and hand calligraphy on the bellyband and envelope.

The Inspiration

Gotham Inspiration

Sketches

We started the process by sketching a few different invitation suite designs. We explored a few illustration options ranging from New York City views to more specifically Brooklyn and Brooklyn Botanic Garden inspired views. Since the wedding was taking place at a botanical garden, we were also keen on incorporating botanical and floral illustrations throughout.

Monograms

No design is ever complete without a unique monogram which is the centerpiece of the invitation suite. We explored a variety of monograms ranging from classic to more contemporary styles.

Color Study

The wedding color palette of purple and grey so we explored a variety of colors within that range.

Design Extension

Once we established the look and feel of the invitation card, we started designing other pieces in the invitation suite. The reply cards and envelopes were either inspired by the Brooklyn Botanic Garden or by botanical illustrations.

Refinements

At the end of the process, we make sure that all the details are considered and that the design can be printed perfectly. We also engineer all the components of the suite (like the bellyband below) to work seamlessly together.

At the end of the creative process, after all edits and refinements are made, the full suite comes to life in the hands of our expert team of printers and craftsmen.
