George Peabody Library Wedding Invitation

Esther & Timothy

For a wedding at the George Peabody Library in Baltimore, Maryland, we were commissioned to create an invitation suite that celebrated one of the most iconic literary interiors in America. The gatefold wrap was designed as a reveal: its exterior hand illustrated with the grand façade of the library, while the interior opened to an expansive painting of the soaring book stacks and luminous atrium within—offering guests a sense of arrival before the celebration began. Soft florals were woven throughout the artwork to bring warmth and romance to the architectural grandeur. The invitation card was printed in letterpress with gold foil, with the remaining pieces flat printed. As a final bespoke detail, the RSVP card incorporated an ornamental motif inspired by the library’s historic railing. The result is timeless, refined, and deeply personal.

Since we are a studio specializing in custom work, we put together custom pricing for each project. For your convenience, below is a brief summary of the starting prices for both our collection and custom suites:

• $2,500 is the starting price for pre-existing designs for a 4-piece suite in 1-letterpress color. Suites with additional embellishments such as foil stamping, laser cut sleeves, pocket folders, etc. start at a higher price point of $3,000 and up.

• Custom invitations start at $3,000 for a 4-piece suite in 1-letterpress color. On average, our clients typically end up spending between $3,000 and $8,000 on custom invitations.

• For budgets in the $1,500 range, many of our designs can be adapted to a economical price point using flat printing.

Note: A 4-piece suite includes Invitation, Reply Card, Outer Envelope and Reply Envelope. However a suite can be customized to your needs. Most pre-existing designs you see, whether it be from our custom page or collection page, can be made into a ready to order set

SKETCHES

We began the process by sketching the exterior and interior views of the George Peabody Library, carefully deciding which architectural details and surrounding elements to highlight. The trees framing the façade were used to echo the soft florals woven through the interior artwork, creating a sense of continuity throughout the suite. We were also focused on capturing the dramatic scale, depth, and perspective that make the library’s interior so instantly iconic.

ORIGINAL WATERCOLOR PAINTING

A suite of original watercolor studies was created for the George Peabody Library suite, including hand painted views of the library’s grand façade, its soaring interior book stacks and atrium, along with bespoke ornamental details inspired by the historic architecture. Each piece was custom designed and painted entirely by hand as part of the original creative process.

FINAL REFINEMENTS

After the design work is completed we make all the final  refinements on the computer before sending our designs off to production.

FINAL DESIGN

At the end of the creative process, after all edits and refinements are made, the full suite comes to life in the hands of our expert team of printers and craftsmen.
