Bordeaux Chateau Wedding Invitation

Kayla & Lee

For a wedding at Château Gassies in Bordeaux, France, we were asked to create an invitation suite inspired by the couple’s chosen theme, Le Jardin d’Amour Infini—The Garden of Infinite Love. We hand illustrated the château as a tribute to the celebration venue, offering guests a first glimpse of the estate before they arrived. Romantic florals were woven throughout the suite to evoke an abundant garden in bloom, while delicate butterflies and ladybirds were included as a subtle nod to the rich symbolism and natural details found in Dutch Master still-life paintings. A custom crest and fine gold foil typography brought a sense of timeless elegance to the overall composition. The result is refined, romantic, and transportive—capturing both the beauty of Château Gassies and the feeling of a love story unfolding in the French countryside.

Since we are a studio specializing in custom work, we put together custom pricing for each project. For your convenience, below is a brief summary of the starting prices for both our collection and custom suites:

• $2,500 is the starting price for pre-existing designs for a 4-piece suite in 1-letterpress color. Suites with additional embellishments such as foil stamping, laser cut sleeves, pocket folders, etc. start at a higher price point of $3,000 and up.

• Custom invitations start at $3,000 for a 4-piece suite in 1-letterpress color. On average, our clients typically end up spending between $3,000 and $8,000 on custom invitations.

• For budgets in the $1,500 range, many of our designs can be adapted to a economical price point using flat printing.

Note: A 4-piece suite includes Invitation, Reply Card, Outer Envelope and Reply Envelope. However a suite can be customized to your needs. Most pre-existing designs you see, whether it be from our custom page or collection page, can be made into a ready to order set

SKETCHES

We started the process by developing a few options for the invitation card. We looked at different font combinations and a few options that were versatile enough and would work harmoniously with a Chinese seal monogram as well as with a watercolor illustration.

ILLUSTRATION

Once our sketch of the wedding venue was approved, we painted the final piece with watercolor paints in vivid greens and deep earth tones.

ALTERNATE DESIGNS

After settling on an illustration style, we explored a few different motifs and patterns for the wrap exterior. Some were inspired by grapevines as a nod to the vineyard while others were inspired by Chinese decorative knots.

ORIGINAL WATERCOLOR PAINTING

A collection of illustrations included studies of the château, romantic florals, butterflies, ladybirds, and bespoke decorative elements developed for Le Jardin d’Amour Infini—The Garden of Infinite Love. Each piece was bespoke and painted entirely by hand as part of the original design process.

FINAL REFINEMENTS

After the design work is completed we make all the final  refinements on the computer before sending our designs off to production.

FINAL DESIGN

At the end of the creative process, after all edits and refinements are made, the full suite comes to life in the hands of our expert team of printers and craftsmen.
