For an elegant rustic inspired wedding in Malibu, California, we took inspiration from beautiful olive branches, farm to table elegance and textural elements like deep burgundy velvet material that we foil stamped in silver and tarnished brass colored foils. The color scheme is lush and luxe with deep grey, stone and merlot colors accented with foil throughout for a truly one of a kind finish.

The Inspiration

Sketches

We began the process with some different invitation sleeve directions all centering around the idea of a rustic farm to table chic aesthetic. We explored everything from textured papers to laser cutting and unique materials to bring to life the couple’s vision.

Illustration

Since the bride was involved in the business of farming and animal science, we decided to explore the idea of a farmer’s almanac as the focal decorative point of the invitation. We hand illustrated a motif that incorporated olives and olive branches as a nod to the wedding venue that was in an olive grove.

Options

Once we determined the farmer’s almanac as our inspiration, we created alternate designs drawing from the rustic farm theme. Everything from materials to colors and foils were explored in the process.

Envelopes

We designed envelopes and envelope liners to match with the design motif being repeated and reinterpreted in a brand new way on these pieces to add to the visual interest in the suite.

Design Refinement

Once the look and feel were defined, we embarked on the process of extending the design to all the pieces in the invitation suite. We wanted to the suite to feel coordinated as a whole without being too “matchy matchy” so each item, from reply card to envelopes has different design elements that work harmoniously with the overall design aesthetic.

Once the illustration was finalized, we reviewed it thoroughly on the computer to prepare it for the final print process.

At the end of the creative process, after all edits and refinements are made, the full suite comes to life in the hands of our expert team of printers and craftsmen.
