When we were tasked with creating a wedding invitation inspired by the hit series Game of Thrones as well as Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream, we decided to create an invitation that would have both dramatic flair and romanticism. The invitation is nested inside of a navy laser cut sleeve hinting at a lush, overgrown forest through which a custom designed coat of arms is revealed. The suite was accented with letterpress and gold foil on all cards and came with a custom designed mini itinerary booklet

SKETCHES

We began the process with some different invitation and sleeve directions all centering around the idea of an old world castle with inspiration from William Shakespeare’s Midsummer Night’s Dream and HBO’s hit series Game of Thrones

Alternate old world invitation designs

Alongside the invitation, we were also creating artwork for the couple’s destination booklet as well as their very own custom drawn coat of arms. We incorporated a combination of medieval and old world elements such as drop capitals, engraved illustrations and antique motifs throughout the different pieces in the suite.

Laser Cut Sleeves

A thorough look at different color palettes and combinations ensured that we looked at all possibilities, finding the very best of the best for our client’s design.

DESIGN REFINEMENT

Once the look and feel were defined, we embarked on the process of extending the design to all the pieces in the invitation suite. We wanted to the suite to feel coordinated as a whole without being too “matchy matchy” so each item, from reply card to envelopes has different design elements that work harmoniously with the overall design aesthetic.

FINAL DESIGN

At the end of the creative process, after all edits and refinements are made, the full suite comes to life in the hands of our expert team of printers and craftsmen.
