There is something wonderfully transportive about Blue Hill at Stone Barns. Just beyond New York City, its rolling landscape, stone architecture and abundant gardens have the feeling of a European countryside retreat—and for Christina and Mike, that connection felt especially personal. The couple became engaged in Paris, overlooking the Place de la Concorde, while Christina had previously lived in Milan for graduate school. When they began planning their wedding, they wanted to bring some of that European romance home: something lush and feminine, deeply connected to its setting, but above all, timeless. Blue Hill at Stone Barns gave them exactly that.
A EUROPEAN GARDEN IN THE HUDSON VALLEY
Working with Table 6 Productions, Christina and Mike embraced the natural beauty of the property rather than trying to transform it. Late-summer hydrangeas and abundant seasonal flowers became a defining element of the day, with the ceremony inspired by a European flower market: varied vessels filled with individual varieties of blooms, creating something that felt collected rather than overly composed.
That same sense of romance carried into Christina’s fashion. Her Mira Zwillinger gown and matching veil were covered in delicate floral appliqué and hand embroidery, almost echoing the gardens surrounding her. The effect was ethereal without feeling precious—a balance that carried beautifully throughout the wedding.
AN INVITATION IN BLOOM
For the stationery, we wanted to create something that felt unmistakably floral while remaining sophisticated enough to sit within the more classic language of the wedding. The invitation suite began with a custom monogram for Christina and Mike, surrounded by a delicate floral composition rendered in soft blush, green and ivory. Rather than treating the flowers simply as decoration, we used them to build dimension throughout the suite, allowing the artwork to move between illustration, pattern and intricate paper detailing.
The centerpiece was a custom laser-cut floral sleeve. Its layered botanical forms created an almost lace-like effect around the invitation, giving the suite a sense of depth and delicacy that echoed both the embroidered florals of Christina’s gown and the abundance of the gardens at Blue Hill at Stone Barns. Inside, the typography was intentionally restrained: elegant serif lettering paired with fine calligraphic details and generous negative space. Against the intricacy of the outer sleeve, that simplicity was important. It allowed the craftsmanship to feel considered rather than ornamental for ornament’s sake. The result was a suite that offered guests their first glimpse of the wedding to come: romantic and feminine, but grounded in traditional materials and timeless design.
