Bahamas Wedding Invitation

Walking the delicate balance between a destination wedding and the look of a classic, timeless wedding invitation, this invitation suite perfectly marries the two styles. We chose a simple and sophisticated engraved navy invitation with coral painted edges and paired that with bursts of color in the lushly letterpress printed coral motifs on the rest of the cards. Pieces are wrapped together in a custom painted wrap, sealed with a coral wax seal, a perfect statement for an elegant wedding in the Bahamas.

The Inspiration

Sketches

We hand illustrated a map of the Bahamas and explored a few different compositions to ensure that we found the best option. The color scheme and elements were picked up from the islands, it’s ocean turquoise blue as well as some coral accents.

Monogram

No design is ever complete without a unique monogram which is the centerpiece of the invitation suite. We explored a variety of monograms ranging from classic crests to more contemporary styles.

Design

We explored a few different looks for the folder wrap, incorporating different graphic elements such as seashells, conch shells, corals and fish to reflect a tropical destination feel. We also experimented with other accents such as wax seals, hand dyed ribbons and die cut shapes to provide a focal point to the wrap.

Pattern Design

We created a custom coral print for them which we applied to the wrap folder as well as to the envelope liners. The print could be used either in a strong coral color scheme or in a tone on tone palette for a more subtle look.

Design Extension

Once the look and feel were defined, we embarked on the process of extending the design to all the pieces in the invitation suite. From the reply cards and enclosure cards to envelopes, we designed each piece to feel exciting, vibrant and enticing.

Details, details, details….

We then refine our artwork and illustrations on the computer to make sure that all details are perfect before moving on to the printing and production process.

At the end of the creative process, after all edits and refinements are made, the full suite comes to life in the hands of our expert team of printers and craftsmen.
