For a stylish wedding at 501 Union in Brooklyn, we created a one of a kind invitation suite inspired by the interior design of the venue and incorporated cultural elements such as chrysanthemum blooms as a nod to the couple's Vietnamese heritage. The artwork was all hand-painted in deep, lush gouache paints.

Design Exploratory

We started with sketching various layouts and typographical treatments for the invitation card. We were very inspired with the interior decor and architecture of the wedding venue, 501 Union in Brooklyn. The ceiling architecture had unique geometric features that had a midcentury feel to them which we incorporated into the top of the invitation layout.

Custom design process

Illustration

We hand painted a unique decorative motif that was inspired by the venue’s ceiling design and pendant lighting. The illustration was rendered in vivid gouache paints.

Floral painting process

Refinements

After determining the design direction, we also took a look at various alternate layouts for the back of the invitation. These seemingly small differences can make a big difference in the overall look and feel of the suite.

At the end of the creative process, after all edits and refinements are made, the full suite comes to life in the hands of our expert team of printers and craftsmen.
