Modern Floral Wedding Invitatiom

Created for a wedding in Amalfi that brought together Chinese and Spanish influences, this invitation suite was designed as a celebration of cultural storytelling through ornament and detail. The floral artwork was inspired by The Grammar of Chinese Ornament, a historic collection of decorative Chinese motifs that informed the stylized lotus florals and flowing botanical elements woven throughout the suite. These details were especially meaningful to the bride, who was inspired by childhood memories of visiting lotus ponds in the summer.

Layered alongside these references are subtle nods to Antoni Gaudí and the mosaic tilework of Barcelona’s Park Güell, reflected in the organic shapes, architectural curves, and custom crest featuring the couple’s initials alongside the traditional Chinese double happiness symbol.

The result is a suite that feels romantic, layered, and deeply personal — blending meaningful cultural references with the sun-washed elegance of the Amalfi Coast.

INSPIRATION

For this suite, we drew inspiration from the layered visual languages of Barcelona — from the organic architecture of Antoni Gaudí and the mosaic surfaces of Park Güell to the rich ornamental traditions found in historic Spanish and Chinese decorative arts. We studied intricate floral motifs, flowing botanical forms, and the warm, sun-washed palette of the city itself, carefully weaving these influences together to create artwork that felt both culturally meaningful and deeply connected to place.

DESIGN PROCESS

The artwork for this suite was carefully researched and created entirely by hand, beginning with studies of historic Chinese ornament and decorative floral motifs inspired by The Grammar of Chinese Ornament. From pencil sketches to layered watercolor washes, each illustration was developed to capture the elegance and movement of traditional lotus florals and flowing botanical details.

FINAL DESIGN

At the end of the creative process, after all edits and refinements are made, the full suite comes to life in the hands of our expert team of printers and craftsmen.
