NYFW Trend Watch: Young Baroque

One of the most exciting styles that I’ve been seeing a resurgence of lately is Baroque inspiration in fashion, design and interiors. But I’m not just talking about your classic, Versailles “Galerie des Glaces”, expected baroque, I’m talking about Baroque reinterpreted in a fresh new way that merges the old with the new, the classic with the edgy and the frilly with the just plain fierce. In 2010, Japanese pop artist, Takashi Murakami filled fifteen rooms in the Palace of Versailles with his  bold pop art and Japanese manga inspired  scultptures. Now that’s an unexpected combination to say the least! But I loved it and I’m so excited to now be seeing the same idea and trend 0n the spring 2013 runways, from Vera Wang to one of my favorite New York fashion brands, Honor. You’ll be sure to see me next year sporting the Young Baroque look!
