Real Wedding: A Venetian Love Story

As a studio located in the heart of New York City, we get to see lots of NYC weddings every year. But just like the diversity of this great city, our clients and their weddings are all completely one of a kind; I can confidently say that no two are alike! Kait and Dom’s wedding was certainly a memorable affair to remember, from their Brooklyn ceremony, DUMBO (that’s Down Under the Manhattan Bridge overpass for all you non-New Yorkers out there) bridal shoot and to a lavish reception dinner at the Venetian, the whole event was nothing short of spectacular.

To kick off the festivities, they selected an invitation to match their traditional meets romantic aesthetic: our signature Paloma letterpress suite. I just love how it set the perfect tone for the big day and even in their wedding pictures seemed to fit perfectly in. (Quick tip: Don’t forget to provide your photographer with one of your invitations for him/her to shoot on your wedding day. It’s a part of your wedding like all other aspects so it’s great to include it in your wedding photos!). Janelle Brooke captured every moment in splendid detail, go ahead and see for yourselves!

Styled Shoot: Dazzling Deco

Art Deco Gatsby Wedding Inspiration and Decor

When we were contacted by Hunter Leone of Three Nails Photography to work together on an over the top, Gatsby inspired styled shoot, we were thrilled since Art Deco happens to be one of the most requested looks and trends many of our clients have been going for over the past year. To me, Deco and 1920s glam transcend a specific theme or time period and are very much about living a life of glamour, opulence and timeless style. What I loved about this shoot is just how much Hunter was able to capture the feeling of a Jay Gatsby party. From the roaring twenties head-pieces and flapper bejeweled dresses to a soaring paper moon inspired by vintage burlesque, this was definitely a shoot that brought to life everything we love about this time period.

We sent over some of our favorite Deco and gilded pieces; our Brogan & Marc black and gold wedding invitation as well as matching gold foil menus to adorn the intricate table settings. An anecdote from this shoot that I loved in particular was when asked why he goes so far out on these workshops, Hunter simply answers “I want […] something that gives them chills, that makes them feel like they are in a different world or time. “. Well We certainly get the chills looking at these photos and can’t wait to share them with you. Here’s a selection of our favorite shots!

Announcement: Atelier Isabey Branding

Most of you know us as invitation designers with a passion for luxe papers, bespoke details and the finest artisanal printing but did you know that we’re also a full service graphic design studio? Probably not and that’s why we’ve decided to launch a new wing of our website dedicated to branding and graphic design.

In my former life, before Atelier Isabey, I actually designed for many of the biggest design agencies in New York, working on designing logos, branding systems and package design for some the most well known brands and products in the marketplace. So coming back to branding feels like I’ve gone back to my roots and come full circle! You don’t need to be getting married or planning a party to work with us. Looking to create a logo for your fledgling business? Need a packaging refresh for a product that you need to fly off your shelves? Planning on sending a press kit or announcement? We’re here to help! So without much ado, I’m thrilled to announce the launch of our Atelier Isabey Branding Website!

We’ve included a little sampler below of some of our highlights, but you’ll have to check out the full site to see the rest…

Real Wedding: One Sweet Day in Singapore (Part 2)

blog_titleimages

Here is the part 2 continuation of last week’s special feature of Isabelle and Minseok’s wedding at the The Four Seasons in Singapore. After their ceremony and tea ceremony, the bride and groom headed to the hotel to celebrate with their family and close friends. The decor was lush with a spectacular wall filled to the brim with hydrangeas and roses and tables adorned with Phalaenopsis orchids and romantic candles.

What struck me more than the flowers, decor and dresses (and mind you there were many and all more gorgeous and jaw dropping than the next) was the heartfelt and truly sweet feeling felt throughout. See for yourself with these photos by Ivan Tan Photography.

Real Wedding: One Sweet Day in Singapore (Part 1)

blog_titleimages

Following in the footsteps of our last post about the watercolor invitations of Isabelle and Minseok, I’m so excited to share their big day with you! It’s not every day that you come across a couple who exude so much joy and grace in their everyday life and the same was certainly true of their wedding day. Being family friends of ours, I was sad to not have been able to make it to their wedding in Singapore but truth be told, the photos were so heartfelt and filled with soul that it nearly felt like I was there myself. One of the things I loved the most was how they celebrated and incorporated their culture on their wedding day. From the inclusion of a traditional Korean tea ceremony (how lovely is Isabelle’s Hanbok pictured below) to a sumptuous reception at The Four Seasons, this wedding was truly a union between East and West. I truly believe that incorporating those personal touches not only make a wedding more unique and memorable but also highlight cultural values and traditions for generations within a family.

Isabelle and Minseok enlisted the help of family and friends where they could (their friends for music during the ceremony and we had their invitations covered) but the rest of the day was led by a team of wedding experts and captured through the lens of Ivan Tan Photography. I’m absolutely in love with all these pictures, so much in fact that we’ll be doing a second post dedicated to more pictures of the tea ceremony and reception. We’ll see you next week for a continuation of these delightful images.

Inspirations: Wonders of Watercolor

blog_titleimages

Watercolor painting has been a growing trend lately with many couples opting to adorn their invitation suites with bold and vibrant splashes of color. I’m all for it and love the fact that couples are excited to put their own personal mark on their wedding stationery! However I often encounter couples who love the look but have a preconceived notion that the look is not formal enough for a wedding and reflects a more quirky, casual vibe. I couldn’t disagree more!

Although watercolor illustrated wedding invitations can certainly be designed to look quirky and casual, it’s the role of the designer to balance the colorful and vibrant elements with elegant and timeless style. Isabelle and Minseok are family friends of mine and loved the look of one of our collection designs, the Versailles. They also wanted to incorporated some personal elements, rendered in a sweet, watercolored style. So with those details in mind, we set off to create something unique and meaningful, just for them.

We started off by creating a gorgeous watercolor painted crest which incorporated Korean mandarin ducks (they’re symbols of companionship in Asia), lush florals and Korean embroidered Hanbok flowers. We then decided to breathe the same energy and romantic vibe throughout all the pieces by incorporating fresh garden foliage, a whimsical map of Singapore and even their adorable pup, Paprika! We’ll be featuring their wedding next week on our blog, their wedding was so sweet and heartfelt, we just can’t wait to share it with you!
