NYFW Trend Watch: Jewel of India

The resurgence of glamour we’re seeing at the moment hasn’t been limited to European design and ornament (as we’ve seen in yesterday’s Young Baroque feature). Different cultural adaptations are also coming to the forefront during this season’s fashion week. A striking new addition we just observed in the past few days was a more culturally inspired direction taking from India and other cultures from the Far East. Yesterday in the Marchesa show, we witnessed gorgeous jewel toned gowns inspired by wedding saris and incredibly intricate beadwork, a theme we continued to see with many others of my favorite designers like Naeem Khan and even the otherwise muted Carolina Herrera!
